How to Remove antivirus support for Windows

Many of us have at some time used the command line “start” button whilst our computer is running, only to find that there is no antivirus support for windows, and we have to start again. This problem can be caused by two possible issues – the windows operating system not being able to read the files it needs to run, or the processor being unable to process the various requests for files from the windows OS. Either way, the issue is a big one, and if you need this functionality back on your computer (and most people do) then you should be able to repair it yourself.

There are several causes for this issue, including the actual configuration of your computer. The first thing to try is that you try and change some of the hardware on your PC, as removing any hardware will likely make your computer boot faster. You can usually do this by accessing the Control Panel / System and Maintenance and selecting the Operating Systems tab. Here you will see a list of all the devices, their current status (active, inactive, disconnected or ready to use), and which drivers they require to operate properly. Right click on any device in this list, and you will see a “driver download” option.

The next step is to select “manage users”. If you have not done this before, you will see a list of user names and passwords. You will see the Disabled Items button, and you will be able to select the items that you would like disabled. To do this, right-click the item, select Properties, and click “Disable”. In fact, disabling the items will not permanently eliminate them from your computer – you can just as easily enable the item again after you have restarted your computer.

There may also be a number of registry settings related to antivirus software that you can delete. You can find these by clicking Start, typing “regedit” into the box, pressing “enter”, and then clicking OK. This will open a new dialog box where you can find the various registry keys related to your antivirus software.

In order to fully uninstall any antivirus software from your computer, you should perform this step in the “user options” window of your control panel. Open the “msconfig” dialog box, and then click “Find” next to “ettermain”. You will then see an array of values that vary depending on the operating system that you are using. You will want to highlight the one for Microsoft services, click “Remove”, and then click “OK”. When you are through, restart your computer and repeat the steps above – the antivirus software should no longer be able to install or load any updates.

If none of the above methods work, the only remaining way to remove the program is to use the Remove antivirus software tool that is included in the “Add/Remove Programs” utility under your system. To do this, open the “add or remove programs” window by clicking the “start” button on the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. Open the “Programs and Features” tab by clicking the “start” button on the right-hand side of your keyboard and scrolling to the bottom. Look for the entry for antivirus support for windows, and then click on “remove” to remove the virus. This should allow your computer to run smoothly once again.
